The Application Process
Achieving your goals to get into the best colleges, board schools, or other programs
It isn't a question of whether you are worthy. The question is, how do you articulate why you are?
How you approach the application is essential. We work with you step-by-step, developing a strategic plan as early as the freshman year of high school.
Through a discovery process, we help you give shape to your interests and goals. We help you to define the big picture--and the little details--that will inform a powerful application. We go over extracurricular activities, summer plans, teacher recommendations and more.
A vital part of the plan: We help you tackle the application essays. It begins with conceptualizing an idea that's original. That's authentic. That speaks to who you are in a way that sets you apart.
Then comes the writing: crafting a compelling introduction. Writing with authority. With clarity. And precision.
Finally, you rewrite and edit until you have a finished product that is uniquely you and yours, that will give you the best chance of success, to achieve your goals.
We have helped many students gain admissions to the top colleges, including the Ivy Leagues, and the best boarding schools, such as Choate Rosemary Hall.
We also offer an online college admissions boot camp with a flexible schedule in the summer. It's a five-day program personalized with one-on-one coaching to get you ahead of the process and enhance your prospects of getting into the college of your choice.
Brainstorming an original idea
First, understand who you are, what you want to achieve and how to make that happen through a carefully crafted essay.
Drafting an effective essay
Now, you begin to see the idea come to life: First, through outlining. Then, through writing and re-writing. And more re-writing. Until you arrive at the right idea in your compelling essay.
Polishing to perfection
Finally, you step back and dissect each concept embedded in your story. You test every paragraph to ensure they speak to who you are. You drill down into all of the sentences for flow, for grammatical construction.
“It has been an absolute pleasure working with you…thank you so much: speaking to you has given me a whole new perspective on how to write effectively.”
—a high school student who gained admission to the University of Pennsylvania, among several other top colleges
“Thank you so much for spending your time helping me … I couldn’t have done it without you, and I really appreciate all the time and effort you put in for me.”
—a student who gained admission to Choate Rosemary Hall boarding school, her top choice
“Of the editors I've worked with, Alec has improved my writing the most. He elevated my stories, giving me the boost I needed to win several professional awards. Without his mentorship, I wouldn't be where I am today.”
